How does UV-C Light sanitize?
In1903 the Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to Niels Finsen for using UV light to fight tuberculosis. Today, hospitals and laboratories use UV light to keep their facilities sterile. UV-C light is a short-wavelength, ultraviolet light that breaks apart germ DNA, leaving it unable to function or reproduce. In other words, UV-C light is germicidal (UV-A and UV-B light are not). UV-C can even neutralize “superbugs” that have developed a resistance to antibiotics.
Studies demonstrate that UV-C can be a meaningful defense against healthcare acquired infections (HAIs) such as MRSA, C. diff, Staph, Ebola, Tuberculosis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Clostridium difficile. Ideal for use in hospitals, nursing homes, surgery centers, and daycare centers, anywhere airborne pathogens can impact patient and staff health.
UV-C is also harmful to our eyes and can cause skin damage as well, so UV-C lighting must be used appropriately. Efficient Power Tech offers three solutions to help you sanitize your environment using UV-C Lighting.
EFFICIENT POWER TECH UV-C SOLUTIONS:
VidaShield UV24 Overhead Air Purification System
The American Journal of Infection Control recently cited a study that detailed how airborne dispersion of pathogens can be rapid, widespread and difficult to prevent.Air can also be a potential route for transmission of pathogenic aerosols like Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and C. difficile.
Leading workplaces are combatting contaminated air with a proven, patented UV-C air purification system uniquely designed inside a lighting fixture called VIDASHIELD UV24. Housed in a shielded UV chamber in the ceiling and ideally located for maximum effectiveness, VIDASHIELD UV24 continuously reduces harmful bacteria and fungi from treated air while improving air quality and minimizing odors.
The fast, continuous VidaShield UV24 air purification system works around the clock to provide fresh, clean air to breathe. It combines an ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) chamber and air circulating fans with an overhead ceiling light to allow for 24/7 operation in occupied spaces and can treat a volume of air equivalent to a 10’ x 10’ x 8’ room, four times per hour.
IES Committee Report: Germicidal Ultraviolet (GUV)
The IES Photobiology Committee has prepared a report in response to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, with the specific goal of providing objective and current information on germicidal ultraviolet irradiation (UVGI) as a means of disinfecting air and surfaces.
4BAY LED Purification Light
Efficient Power Tech also offers UV-C lighting solutions for highbay and warehouse applications.
Our unique lighting system can help keep your operation area clean from pathogenic bacteria. The lights have a unique optional feature that will trigger the UV-C usage to protect your workforce from any harmful UVC dosage.
The Efficient Power Tech system is perfect for lab, storage and warehouse environments where keeping a sanitized environment is key. Your workers will rest assured knowing that UV-C lighting is being used to help sanitize. Sanitizing with UV-C light has been a normal practice since the mid-20th century. UV-C lighting is an effective tool to eliminate germs, bacteria and viruses that can linger in the air and on surfaces.
